About this calculator

In India, job offers are typically presented as a Cost to Company (CTC) figure. However, the actual monthly cash that hits your bank account (in-hand salary) is much lower.

This calculator breaks down a gross CTC package into standard Indian components like Basic, HRA, Special Allowance, Professional Tax, EPF, and the final estimated take-home pay.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between CTC and in-hand salary?

CTC is the total cost a company incurs on an employee annually, including non-cash benefits and social security contributions. In-hand salary is the actual net cash an employee receives monthly after deducting income tax, EPF contributions, professional tax, and other company deductions.

Why is Basic Salary kept at 50% of CTC?

Under the Code on Wages in India, Basic Salary and other retirement benefits must constitute at least 50% of the total salary structure. This ensures adequate retirement contributions to EPF and Gratuity.

Are employer PF contributions part of my CTC?

Yes. Lenders and employers count the employer's share of EPF (12% of basic) as part of the overall CTC, even though you do not receive it in your monthly pay packet.
